About Me. Stephen Friedman.
Thoughtful, insightful and hopefully helpful articles about leadership, organizational behaviour, human resources, and complexity.
❤️ I love my job. I just do. I am an Adjunct Professor of Organizational Studies and a Senior Faculty of Executive Education, at The Schulich School of Business, York University in Toronto.
I teach and design live and virtual graduate and undergraduate courses in Organizational Behaviour (OB) and Strategic Management.
I am grateful that I get to work with students just starting, those who are growing through graduate studies and other leaders, managers and professionals, looking to learn about OB, at various stages of their careers.
I get to be a continuous learner — new topics, advances in the field and cool tech to support it all.
🌎 The 1000’s of stories from students’, leaders’, managers’ and other professionals’ decisions, and challenges give me a desire to create a world where business is a source of income and for social good. Where business and personal development go hand in hand.
👨🏻💻 I also spend time as a writer, with work appearing in several publications and platforms, like Medium!
🧠 My favourite topics are those that build bridges between personal/leadership development, business and psychology/cognitive science.
📚 I like to read, write and learn about progressive perspectives on how to integrate and think about topics like:
- Organizational behaviour
- Behavioural economics
- Complexity science
- Systems thinking
- Social skills development
- Career development
- Social psychology
- Human resource management
- Inclusion in organizations
- Mental health in the workplace
😍 I love my family and friends, music (playing and listening), guitars, food (cooking and eating), cool technology, exercise (not too much tho), and enjoying nature.
